The healing power of gratitude

This week, I have been thinking a lot about gratitude. Gratitude can be a tricky thing; hard to quantify and often there is a focus on a lack of gratitude and feelings of guilt about being “ungrateful.”

When I think about gratitude, I think about taking time to pause and feel grateful for the daily, ordinary things. I wonder if it’s a practice we could bring into our day in moments of stress or overwhelm. Instead of using gratitude as a platitude or moral stick, we can use it to come back to ourselves.

We aren’t living in easy times and some days it can feel damn near impossible to bring this feeling into being. It’s a practice, of course, as is most of life. But as I always say to my toddler, “practice makes progress.”

Happy week and hang in there - we got this.
